Family Smoothies With Frozen Nectarines & Pumpkin Pie Spice

IMG_6807

Have you seen the bags of frozen sliced peaches and nectarines at Trader Joe’s? They are a nice change from my usual go-to ingredients. Sometimes I need just a little more sweetness and some tartness to complete what I’m blending into my smoothie. I made these two smoothies during my next-day prep last night and I was really pleased with how smooth and balanced they turned out. There is not any one distinct flavor, including the pumpkin pie spice and banana. Both have a lightly creamy texture. The kids’ smoothie somehow tasted like a strawberry milkshake!

Winter Wedge Salad: Crispy Shredded Brussels & Apple Pecan Panzanella With Maple Vinaigrette

I find it hard to get my salad motivation on in the winter. I know I need to be eating more of them but something cold just doesn’t sound desirable. I avoid warm toppings on this traditionally cold dish but this combination wins me over. This salad provides all of the opposing elements of food that [...]

Roasted Butternut Bruschetta With Lemon Oregano Ricotta

Roasted Butternut Bruschetta With Lemon Oregano Ricotta

This is my special autumn appetizer and an unexpected twist on the classic bruschetta. Using the seasonal butternut squash, a trilogy of fresh herbs, and some light and bright ricotta, this will become a fall favorite of everyone. Dealing with fresh herbs doesn’t have to be a tedious process. Laying the sprigs right on vegetables [...]

Back To School: The Best “Buttery” Popcorn Ever For Snack Time

Arguably, no other food has a pull as strong as fresh popcorn. How many times in my life have I proclaimed to be full only for the aroma of an office mate’s microwave popcorn to make my mouth water and stomach rumble. I don’t even want to know how much I have spent on overpriced movie [...]
